Amazon teases upcoming Fire TV Cube

Amazon has confirmed the existence of a new “Fire TV Cube” device through a new teaser page, as found by AFTVNews. There’s basically no other information on the new device aside from the name and an email list that users can sign up for that promises more details “coming soon,” but there’s a good chance that the upcoming Fire TV OS device already leaked months ago.

Last fall, AFTVNews published pictures of two leaked Fire TV devices: one, the square-shaped Fire TV dongle that turned out to be real, and a second, cube-shaped set top box. The second device (pictured below) is likely the upcoming Fire TV Cube, which is said to be a new flagship device for Amazon that will combine the Fire TV with the company’s Alexa-powered Echo speakers into a single device.

The Fire TV Cube is expected to have the same far-field microphones as Amazon’s Echo and Echo Dot, and offer similar voice-command integrations that Amazon currently offers with the existing Fire TV, but without the need for a second device.

There’s no word on when Amazon will be formally announcing the Fire TV Cube, or what it will cost when it does come out — but with the company already teasing the product on its website, we can’t be too far away from an official reveal.
