Equity Advocates (EA) is a small NYC based nonprofit. Our mission is to ensure that all New Yorkers have access to healthy affordable food. We are seeking a freelance graphic designer to help us produce our first annual report. Its a six week paid project starting in late March.
Role Details
Organization Summary:
Equity Advocates (EA) builds the capacity of nonprofit organizations to address the underlying causes of food inequity through policy and systems change. We partner with New York-based organizations working to alleviate hunger and poverty, providing them with the tools they need to be more civically engaged—including policy education, advocacy training and coalition building services. Through this work, we are building a non-partisan grassroots coalition of powerful advocates and leaders within the food movement.
As Equity Advocates’ comes to the end of the second year of programming, we are creating our first ever Annual Report to cover 2019-2020 programs, impact and financial reporting. We are looking for a freelancer to support the design and production of the Annual Report.
Duration of Contract:
Approximately six weeks, starting in Late-March
Scope of Work:
This section details the services that the Consultant will provide under the contract, including:
*Graphic Design and Design Layout
*Collaborating with a very small leadership team of 2-4 people to layout copy and design visual elements for an approximately 10-15 page Annual Report including: Mission, Problem Statement & Vision, Program Overview, Racial Equity Statement, Impacts, Financial Summary, Staff Bios, Listed Partners & Funders.
* Collaborating with us to concept and design a single cover with an illustration.
*Some photography, data and text for use as infographics/pull quotes will be provided by EA, but we are looking for a designer to help us develop l other visual elements including charts, icons and/or illustrations
*Ensure report aligns with our existing branding including colors and fonts used on our website
*Formatting the report as a PDF so it can be printed and shared easily over email
Deliverables:
*Regular weekly check ins during the design phase
*Draft report
*The consultant will be responsible for scheduling 2 rounds of reviews with EA to review and edit report, following up by incorporating those changes into the designed report
*Final report as PDF and source file of report
*Source files of Individual charts, illustrations, graphs and infographics saved as image files for future use by clients.
Desired Qualifications :
*Proficiency in the use of Adobe InDesign or other similar software
Specialization in typography and print layout as well a excellent data visualization skills
*Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
*Strong communication skills, ability to work independently
*Bonus points for experience working with nonprofits and producing annual reports and/or fundraising documents
Compensation:
