Geico CMO Damon Burrell is stepping down after nearly three years as the insurance giant’s top marketer.
In a memo obtained by ADWEEK, Geico CEO Todd Combs lauded Damon for leading Geico’s marketing organization through big changes.
“Damon will be with us until January and the search for a successor has already begun,” Combs wrote. “During the transition, the Marketing leadership team will report to me.”
Burrell initially announced he was leaving in a LinkedIn post Thursday. He did not share where he is headed next, only writing, “I’m also very excited to share my next opportunity … stay tuned for more.”
Burrell took the CMO role at Geico in March 2022 after holding the same role at Estée Lauder for six years.
Prior to that, he spent roughly two years as senior vice president of marketing for Nickelodeon, and nearly nine years at MTV Networks, finishing his tenure there as senior vp of digital marketing.
Geico’s VP of growth and journey marketing also left Geico recently, to become Independence Pet Holding’s first-ever chief customer and marketing officer, ADWEEK previously reported.
