Melanie Lawson Returns to KTRK Anchor Desk

Melanie Lawson is back to anchoring at ABC owned Houston station KTRK.

Her first show back was the 11 a.m, newscast with Jeff Ehling and meteorologist Rachel Briers.

“And I’m Melanie Lawson,” she introduced herself at the top of the show. “It’s been so long since I’ve said that it took me a second there, but it’s been a while since I’ve had the pleasure of saying those words, I have to say, it is so good to be back with you, Jeff and Rachel, and it’s wonderful to be back with all of you,” she told viewers.

Lawson has worked at the station for over forty years. She’s been off since last spring because of foot issues, and the death of her father.

She started as a full-time general assignment reporter before being named co-anchor of Live at 5 and Channel 13’s midday show, Eyewitness News at 11 a.m. Lawson also hosts a weekly Community Affairs program called Crossroads, focusing on issues and events around Houston.
