For a heaping helping of mind-bending marketing, look no further than art collective Meow Wolf. That’s both a broad and a specific statement, with the growing entertainment company providing the latest example of its trippy advertising style with a campaign to promote its new Texas exhibit.
“Change Your Frequency,” from creative agency Buck, aims to build traffic and hype for Meow Wolf’s new permanent exhibit called Radio Tave in Houston’s historic Fifth Ward, opening Oct. 31.
The work stars local rap legend Fat Tony as a charming used car salesman who appears in a cheesy cowboy-themed commercial that turns into a vortex, pulling a family into their own television set and through a technicolor wonderland.
What follows may be best left to individual interpretations, but suffice to say that it features animated backdrops, flying roasted chickens, lava lamps, analog technology, a badass vintage car, and tons of psychedelia.
The short film “blends elements of comedy and fantasy” and “offers a sneak peek into the kaleidoscopic universe of Radio Tave,” per the brand.
The collaboration between brand and agency “has been a surreal dream come true,” according to Robert Bisi, Buck’s creative director.
The 60-second hero video is part of a broader promo plan around Radio Tave, which will include out-of-home ads and experiential activations.
Meow Wolf, based in Santa Fe, N.M., has worked previously with agencies Preacher and Wieden+Kennedy as it opened exhibits in its hometown as well as Las Vegas, Denver and Dallas. Los Angeles is next on the group’s radar, with a Hollywood-centric project in the works for 2026.
