(NY) Sho Shibuya’s Japanese Typography

The Japanese artist Sho Shibuya is a Brooklyn based designer and founded Placeholder, a multidisciplinary branding design studio. He currently has a solo exhibition of works on paper, wood, mirror and installation. The theme of the show is “Week” and derived from Sho’s primary experience with the physical world, creating and painting “Katakana”— Japanese weekly letterforms. Inspired by daily moments, the series uses typography and experiments with different materials and techniques, from painting to paper cuts.
