Overnight Cable News Ratings for Nov. 15-18: CNN and MSNBC’s Lost Weekend

Friday, Nov. 15

MSNBC triumphed over CNN among Adults 25-54 during primetime led by The ReidOut with Joy Reid as the most-watched show in that advertiser-coveted demo. But CNN still claimed bragging rights for the total day demo, seeing the most A25-54 viewers during the 5 p.m. hour of The Lead with Jake Tapper. Meanwhile, The Five finished out the week as Fox News’ most-watched show in the demo as well as with total viewers.

Saturday, Nov. 16

CNN’s re-broadcast of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher is consistently attracting audiences across both measured categories. The post-Election Week edition was the most-watched show among total viewers and the A25-54 demo. And there’s some real spillover effect happening with CNN’s newest Saturday night show, Have I Got News For You, with that series registering higher numbers as well.

Sunday, Nov. 17

Fox News continued to lead the way over the weekend with over a million total viewers in both primetime and total day. CNN and MSNBC fell well short of that mark—both networks finished Sunday with under 400,000 total viewers. FNC’s saw its biggest total viewer audience for Life, Liberty & Levin at 8 p.m. ET while The Big Weekend Show was first among the A25-54 crowd.

Monday, Nov. 18

The Rachel Maddow Show and The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell lifted MSNBC above the million mark in total viewers on Monday night. The news wasn’t as positive for CNN, which saw its total viewer numbers remain below 500,000 in both primetime and total day. Over on Fox News, each program between 5 to 11 p.m. saw over 3 million total viewers with one notable exception. The 9 p.m. hour of Hannity registered 2.712 million viewers in that particular category.
