Revolving Door Roundup: CNN and CBS News Swap Talent

International Hire: CBS News announced that Anna Coren has joined the network as a foreign correspondent based in Hong Kong. Coren was most recently at CNN, where she was an anchor and international correspondent. During her 17-year CNN tenure, she covered the war in Afghanistan, the Hong Kong protests, Australia’s catastrophic bushfires, and the Thai cave rescue.

Executive Moves: On Thursday, CNN announced that Andrew Roy would be the network’s new general manager, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), and London bureau chief. Roy comes to CNN from CBS News, where he served as vice president of foreign news and London bureau chief. Reporting to CNN’s managing editor, Mike McCarthy, Roy will oversee day-to-day responsibilities for all the network’s EMEA bureaus as well as its London hub and EMEA HQ.

CNN has appointed award-winning journalist @AndrRoy to the key role of General Manager of EMEA & London Bureau Chief, overseeing the network’s largest bureau outside of the US.

Roy joins from CBS, and takes up his new post in the Spring.

Also joining CNN—but not from CBS News—is The Washington Post’s Philip Rucker. He’ll be a Washington, D.C.-based senior vice president, editorial strategy and news, leading and shaping the network’s political coverage as it enters its digital era. Rucker is the latest high-profile journalist to depart the Post, which has been dealing with staff attrition in the last few months.

New White House Team: NewsNation has assembled its new White House covering the second Donald Trump administration. Kellie Meyer, Robert Sherman, and Libbey Dean will be the network’s new Washington, D.C. correspondents tasked with covering all the news coming out of the Oval Office.

Scripps Security: Scripps News has elevated Liz Landers to national security correspondent. She will lead the network’s coverage of national security issues, including developments within intelligence agencies, the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, and other critical areas central to the security of Americans.
