Role Details
—About Us
Studio.Build is an award-winning branding and design studio. We fuse creative thinking and crafted design
to build ideas, develop narratives and create worlds for individuals and organisations, from local designer-makers, to high street names and global organisations. Led by Michael C. Place (creative director) & Nicola Place (business & strategy director), we are a team fuelled by curiosity, design craft, and close collaboration with our clients.
We relocated from London in 2015, and the studio is now based in an old textile mill in the market town of Otley, West Yorkshire. We’re just 9 miles from the vibrant city of Leeds and on the fringe of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
—About The Role
We’re looking for a mid-senior designer for an 8 month contract to cover a 6 month sabbatical with a minimum month cross over each end – but with potential for this role to become permanent. We’re looking for someone who is a really strong brand identity designer, but who is also technical and quick to learn new skills & softwares. We currently use webflow for in-house website development and we’re looking for a designer who can manage the existing client projects built on this platform, but also lead on developing new webflow-based projects. Ability to create simple animations using After Effects is definitely an advantage, as is a keen interest in type design.
The role will start as soon as possible but ideally no later than end of February to allow a handover. The role will require you to be with the team in the studio with the option to work remotely on some days- this is flexible depending on circumstance.
—About You
Our approach is one of joined-up thinking—making something look good is just one piece of the puzzle, so we’re looking for someone with great critical and analytical thinking. You’ll need to be confident with clients and taking initiative, balanced with an understanding of the wider project and studio needs. Very importantly, you’ll need to have Webflow experience OR convince us how you can learn it quickly!
In short you’ll need to be a great designer who is keen to learn and become an integral part of the team very quickly.
—What We Offer
A friendly flexible and creative work environment in a small team. We work on a hybrid model with a blend of studio days and working from home (by arrangement). We offer 25 days holiday + bank holidays per year, (pro-rata) and Nest pension scheme. Salary is dependant on experience.
Skill/Attributes Required
—Essential
Strong on brand identity design, quick & keen to learn new skills, an interest in typography, an analytical thinker, clear & confident communicator, friendly & team focused. Experience of working on interface/web design, and understanding the integration of visual design, UX & UI .
—Good to have
Experience with Webflow is definately an advantage, After Effects skills for simple animations/stings, and confidence with spreadsheets (Excel/Numbers).
