Creative Ecosystem with Elsa Salonen—A conversation on Soul: art, animism and sisterhood
Tuesday 30 July, 1:00-2:00pm
Emmi Salonen will be talking with her sister Elsa about her practice, our connection to nature—and each other. In her exhibitions, Elsa examines our relationship to the environment in a poetic manner, experimenting with a range of natural materials to create works that aim to unite mysticism with science. Elsa’s works emerge out of her artistic interpretation of ancient alchemical knowledge. In her art, she activates animist rituals and magic practices once believed to have been lost. Elsa produces coloured crystals from the pigments of flowers, draws stellar constellations with finely ground meteorite dust on glass, or distills liquid from plants. The outcomes are paintings, installations and conceptual art.

He is well known as the frontman for Kibir La Amlak, a live dub show, record label, studio and sound system. With over a decade of festival performances, worldwide tours and events under his belt and an ever expanding list of titles to his discography, he has become a household name in the world of roots reggae and dub. Whether he’s on stage, in the studio, behind a camera, in an editing suite, in a design studio or facilitating music therapy workshops, his love of story telling and harmony shine through in all his creative expressions.
