Top of the Ticker: On Monday, NBC News debuted its first promo campaign highlighting Tom Llamas as the new anchor of the NBC Nightly News. The promo leans heavily into the Nightly News’ legacy, featuring previous anchors and emphasizing the trust between the broadcast and its audience. Llamas takes over from Lester Holt, who is stepping down May 30 and taking on a full-time role at Dateline NBC. Llamas begins his new assignment on Monday, June 2.

Debate moderator: Fox News Sunday anchor Shannon Beam has been named the moderator for the sixth installment of The Senate Project, a joint project of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate and the Orrin G. Hatch Foundation. Beam will moderate a debate between Pennsylvania senators John Fetterman and David McCormick in Boston that will stream live on Fox Nation on June 2 at 9 a.m. ET.
Also coming to Fox Nation is the third season of the racing docuseries 100 Days to Indy. Premiering May 22, the three-episode season will provide a look into the lives of the drivers and their teams as they navigate the pivotal 100-day countdown to the Indianapolis 500. Fox Nation also announced that it has acquired the first two seasons of the series and will release a playback of the full 2025 Indy 500 on May 26, the day after it airs on Fox Sports.

Curry time: CNBC Sport is giving viewers a glimpse into the business world of NBA superstar Stephen Curry with the premiere of Curry Inc: The Business of Stephen Curry on June 4 at 9 p.m. The show will explore how Curry’s Thirty Ink business is thriving in the media, fitness, lifestyle, philanthropy, and spirits spaces. Awards watch: NBC News’ Kristen Welker received a Matrix Award from New York Women In Communications (NYWICI) on Tuesday night. Former Matrix honoree and NBC News’ chief foreign affairs correspondent and chief Washington correspondent Andrea Mitchell presented Welker with her award. “The Meet the Press team and I have a few key goals every Sunday: to educate our audience, to hold those in power to account, and to have constructive conversations that people across the political spectrum can hear and learn from,” Welker said as she accepted her award.

Meanwhile, CBS News was the big winner at this year’s New York Press Club Journalism Awards. The network received eight awards, including recognition in the national political reporting category. Other winners were NBC News with five, ABC News with three, Bloomberg with two, Scripps News with two, and MSNBC and NBC News Now earning one award each and sharing an award in the national spot news category.
