Watch Kamala Harris’ First Interview on Fox News

Vice President Kamala Harris sat down for her first-ever formal interview as the Democratic presidential candidate with Fox News on Wednesday.

Special Report anchor Bret Baier conducted the pre-recorded interview, which aired in its entirety during the 6 p.m. hour. The contentious conversation lasted over 25 minutes, with questions revolving around many of the talking points brought up by Harris’ Republican rival, former President Donald Trump—specifically about immigration issues.

One point of contention that emerged during the interview involved Trump’s use of the “enemy from within” line when attacking Americans who oppose him. Baier played a clip from a Trump town hall event hosted by Fox News’ Harris Faulkner from earlier in the day that showed the former president attempting to distance himself from that charged comment.

Harris pushed back on the clip, telling Baier that they did not show the actual clip of what he had been saying. “Bret… with all due respect that clip was not what he has been saying about the enemy within that he has repeated when he is speaking about the American people,” Harris noted. “That’s not what you just showed.”

Once the interview concluded, Baier returned to anchor Martha McCallum and The Five co-hosts Dana Perino and Harold Ford Jr. for their reactions. “I think it is great that she did the interview with Fox. I think it was amazing that you were the interviewer,” Perino responded as the panel went on to dissect the positives and the negatives of the just-concluded interview.

Baeir reappeared during Hannity later in the evening to elaborate on the interview and what the Harris campaign hoped to achieve with her appearance. “She came to Fox News… she wanted to have a go after Donald Trump’s viral moment that plays on a lot of other channels and on social media,” Baier said. “She may have gotten that.”

Harris’s FNC appearance came on the heels of her town hall with radio host Charlamagne tha God on Tuesday. Despite being an audio-only conversation, CNN and MSNBC carried the entire interview live.
