Week of Feb. 10 Morning News Ratings: Good Morning America Reclaims Top Spot in Total Viewers

After a 15-week drought, ABC News’ Good Morning America returned to the top spot as America’s most-watched morning news program for the week of Feb. 10.

This was not a surprise, as GMA had been steadily moving closer to this position over the past few weeks. For example, only 6,000 total viewers separated it and NBC News’ Today for the week of Feb. 3.

GMA has taken advantage of the anchor switcheroo at NBC News’ Today and the somewhat busy news cycle to start 2025 to return to the top.

It was a comfortable win for GMA as +72,000 total viewers separated the two-morning shows. Making this win sweeter for GMA was the fact that it was the only newscast with week-to-week gains in total viewers and the advertiser-prized Adults 25-54  demo.

According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, GMA averaged 2.752 million total viewers and 487,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo for the week of Feb. 10. Compared to the previous week, ABC News’ morning show was the only one with gains in both measured categories as it grew by +2% in total viewers and +3% in the demo. Looking at its performance to the same week in 2024 (Feb.12), GMA was down in total viewers by -7% and -13% in the demo.

Today landed back in second place in total viewers but continued to hold the fort as the No.1 morning news show in the demo, with 2.680 million and 645,000 viewers, respectively, for the week of Feb. 10. It was down in total viewers by -1% and -4% in A25-54 when comparing its performance to the previous week. Looking at the same week in 2024, Today was down by -6% in total viewers and -4% in the demo.

CBS Mornings finished with 2.070 million total viewers and 357,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo for the just concluded week. Compared to the previous week, CBS News’ morning show was flat in total viewers and down -6% in the demo. During the same period in 2024, CBS Mornings was down in total viewers by -18% and -34% in the demo.
