Week of July 27 Morning News Ratings: Today Stays on Top in Close Race

NBC News’ Today remained the No. 1 morning show in total viewers and the Adults 25-54 demo for the second week in a row.
Today managed to create some breathing room in the total viewers race, with the help of 30,000 additional viewers separating it from ABC News’ Good Morning America for the week of July 27. However, GMA also continued to chip away at Today’s demo dominance, shrinking the gap between them to just 32,000 additional viewers.
There was additional good news for GMA as it was the only morning broadcast with gains in both measured categories during the final week of July.
According to Nielsen’s national live+same-day big data plus program ratings, GMA averaged 2.761 million total viewers and 485,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo for the week of July 27. Compared to the previous week, ABC News’ morning show was up +1% in total viewers and +10% in the demo—the only morning show with gains in both categories for the week. When looking at how it performed in the same week in 2025, GMA grew by +3% in total viewers and the demo.
Today finished in first place in total viewers and the demo with 2.791 million and 517,000 viewers, respectively, for the week that just ended. It extended its lead over GMA from more than 4,000 total viewers the previous week to 32,000 for this week. However, its lead in the demo continued to diminish from 87,000 additional viewers to 32,000 between them. Today rose by +2% in total viewers but fell by -2% in the A25-54 demo compared to the previous week. When put up against the same week in 2025, Today was up +15% in total viewers but saw a -4% drop in the demo.
CBS Mornings had 1.568 million total viewers and 228,000 viewers in the demo for the week of July 27. Compared to the previous week, CBS News’ morning show was down -2% in total viewers but recorded a +4% lift in the demo. Versus the same week in 2025, CBS Mornings saw a decline of -15% in total viewers and -31% in the demo.
