Where Viewers Watched Coverage of Hurricane Milton


Hurricane Milton’s landfall on Florida’s west coast occurred on Wednesday night, and viewers were glued in to witness its ferocity as the cable news networks offered blanket coverage of the storm.

The big three cable news networks combined for nearly 5 million viewers between 4 p.m. and midnight, with the category three storm making landfall at 8:30 p.m. ET (all times Eastern). Including The Weather Channel, a combined viewership of nearly 9 million people tuned in to watch the unfolding events during the primetime window of 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Fox News had the most total viewers during primetime, with 3.003 million, while The Weather Channel had more viewers from the Adults 25-54 demo, earning 1.002 million. 

Here is how the cable networks performed on Wednesday evening.

4 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Fox News – 2.789 million total viewers; 361,000 demo viewers

CNN – 1.203 million total viewers; 293,000 demo viewers

MSNBC – 1.498 million total viewers; 170,000 demo viewers

8 – 11 p.m. (Including The Weather Channel)

Fox News – 3.003 million total viewers; 419,000 demo viewers

CNN – 1.434 million total viewers; 388,000 demo viewers

MSNBC – 1.533 million total viewers; 192,000 demo viewers

TWC – 2.860 million total viewers; 1.002 million demo viewers
