April is Earth Month, and to celebrate, hospitality and entertainment company Delaware North launched a “Bee the Difference” campaign in partnership with The Bee Cause Project to educate people about the importance of the earth’s pollinators.

The Bee Cause Project is an educational group that provides grants to non-profit organizations and schools.

This campaign will let people scan a QR code on their smart device to access an augmented reality experience that lets them help virtual bees pollinate agave plants while learning facts about pollinators.

“Delaware North is honored to place a much-needed spotlight on one of the hardest-working creatures on our planet: the bee. Bees are critical to our environment and agriculture,” said Debbie Friedel, corporate director of sustainability at Delaware North. “As one of the leading companies providing food and beverage services at stadiums, airports, restaurants and other venues across the United States, we are proud to support consumer education about the vital contribution bees make to our daily lives.”

People can also visit the Bee the Difference website on their mobile devices to access the AR experience without scanning the QR code.

Throughout the month of April, Delaware North will offer a special cocktail called the Bee’s Harvest Margarita at more than 100 of its operating locations. Participating Delaware North operations include the Los Angeles International Airport, Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Comerica Park in Detroit and multiple locations at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World, among others.

Delaware North said it annually serves more than a half-billion guests across three continents at sports venues, airports, restaurants, hotels, casinos, resorts and national and state parks.
