Chris Cillizza has a new home on Scripps News. The former CNN editor at large is joining the Atlanta-based outlet as a political contributor. He’ll appear on programs across Scripps networks.
“I’m a big fan of what Scripps is building—fair-minded and smart coverage of American politics,” Cillizza said in a statement. “I look forward to adding my voice to their chorus.”
Cillizza joined CNN in 2017, launching the podcast The Point and frequently appearing as a political commentator. He was let go from the network in 2022 as part of the layoffs initiated by then-head Chris Licht, which also included Brian Stelter‘s departure. Stelter is now returning to CNN in a new chief media analyst role.
With the addition of Cillizza, the ranks of Scripps News political commentators now includes former New York congresswoman Kathleen Rice, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and political strategist Steve Schmidt. They’ll be focused on the upcoming presidential election, which is mere weeks away.
