CBS News has promoted Nicole Young to senior producer of 60 Minutes ahead of the newsmagazine’s 57th season. Young began her CBS News career as an intern and joined 60 Minutes in 2004.
“Nicole is one of the best producers at 60 Minutes, and in this new role, she will not only continue her close collaboration with Scott Pelley but also help us develop new opportunities for reaching audiences in fresh ways,” executive producer Bill Owens said in a statement.
Those “new opportunities” include launching a free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channel for 60 Minutes. Young and her team led the development of the channel, which boasts 175 hours of archival content, as well as new reporting.
“The FAST channel dedicated to 60 Minutes bridges our past and future, ushering in a new era of accessible, real-time content and redefining how an audience experiences news,” Young observed in a statement. “I want to thank Bill Owens for the opportunity to work on this project and more in my new role.”
Season 57 debuts on Sept. 15 and will feature expanded 90-minute episodes, as well as a Monday night primetime election special. The season premiere includes Scott Pelley‘s interview with top prosecutor U.S. attorney Matthew Graves about the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, as well as Cecilia Vega’s coverage of territorial disputes between China and the Philippines over territory and Anderson Cooper‘s conversation with pop star Dua Lipa.
