88% of organizations are increasing fraud team headcounts

SEON has released the 2025 Digital Fraud Report, gathering insights from nearly 600 fraud, risk and compliance leaders regarding trends and priorities in 2025. The report focused on organizations in the financial services, payments, eCommerce, fintech and iGaming sectors. 

According to the report, fraud prevention budgets and teams are growing. 85% of organizations report increasing fraud prevention budgets and 88% report increasing fraud team headcounts. Current budget allocations reveal 86% of organizations are spending more than 3% of their revenue on defensive measures against fraud. 

Yet, 43% of organizations report fraud is outpacing revenue. 5% or more of company revenue could be forfeit to fraud schemes when accounting for hidden costs such as compliance penalties, customer loss and operational inefficiencies. 

When it comes to anti-fraud solutions, 62% of companies are opting for real-time transaction monitoring. 76% of organizations are focusing efforts into AI, machine learning and analytics for fraud prevention.
