NBC News’ Today has some pep to its step as it finished the week as the only morning show with week-to-week gains in total viewers and the Adults 25-54 demo.

Making things more jovial is the fact that Today recorded double-digit growth in the demo, putting some space between it and ABC News’ Good Morning America. According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, GMA averaged 2.598 million total viewers and 446,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo for the week of July 14. Compared to the previous week, ABC News’ morning show was flat in total viewers and the demo. Looking at its performance to the same week in 2024 (July 15), GMA was down by -1% in total viewers and -7% in the demo. 

Today finished in second place in total viewers and grew its lead in the demo, with 2.418 million and 529,000 viewers, respectively, for the just-concluded week. The broadcast had gains of +3% in total viewers and +10% in the demo compared to the previous week. Today grew its lead over GMA with 83,000 additional demo viewers. Looking at how it performed during the same week in 2024, Today was down in total viewers and the demo by -2%.

CBS Mornings had 1.829 million total viewers and 259,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo. Compared to the previous week, CBS News’ morning show was flat in total viewers and down -4% in the demo. During the same period in 2024, CBS Mornings experienced a -5% decline in total viewers and had a second consecutive week with a -30% decline in the demo.
