MTV’s hit ’90s animated series about a pair of snickering teenage couch potatoes is returning to the airwaves, but this time the show will air on Comedy Central.

The network, which like MTV is owned by ViacomCBS, has made a deal with series creator Mike Judge for two new seasons of Beavis and Butt-Head, which will reimagine the duo as Gen Zers. Comedy Central said it will appeal to both Gen Xers who grew up with the show and their Gen Z kids.

Judge will once again voice both characters, and will write and produce the series. His deal with Comedy Central includes additional Beavis and Butt-Head spinoffs and specials.

This will be the second revival of Beavis and Butt-Head, which initially ran for seven seasons, from 1993-1997 (Judge also made a feature film based on the show, 1996’s Beavis and Butt-Head Do America). The series returned to MTV in 2011 for a Season 8 revival.

“It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again,” said Judge in a statement.

Since making Beavis and Butt-Head, Judge went on to create two more iconic TV shows, the animated King of the Hill and Silicon Valley, and directed films including Office Space, Idiocracy and Beavis and Butt-Head Do America.

“We are thrilled to be working with Mike Judge and the great team at 3 Arts again as we double down on adult animation at Comedy Central,” said Chris McCarthy, ViacomCBS’ president of entertainment and youth group, in a statement. “Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can’t wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own.”

This is the latest iconic MTV property to be revived since McCarthy took over that network in 2016 and started MTV Studios. New versions of Jersey Shore and The Hills air on the network, while several other shows have migrated to different platforms: Quibi is airing new versions of Punk’d and Singled Out, Facebook Watch revived The Real World and Comedy Central will be airing the animated Jodie (starring and executive produced by Tracee Ellis Ross), a spinoff of Daria, which itself was spun off from, yes, Beavis and Butt-Head.
