Indie agency Mojo Supermarket has ended its nine-month search for a head of strategy, bringing in Droga5’s strategy director Brad Filice.

Founder Mo Said had been running the strategy department himself while searching for someone who could partner with him as a creative. “The relationship between a creative and strategist is the most holy relationship in this business,” he said. “It was really hard. It’s like trying to get married in 11 months.”

Said wanted someone who could speak business fluently, but also understand how brands need to operate on social. But traditional agencies often don’t get where people’s attention is going today, and social shops often don’t produce talent with brand strategy chops, according to Said.
