Bruce Smith has been promoted to vice president and news director for Fox owned Dallas station KDFW.

He joined KDFW in 1996 and has served as assistant news director since 2006.

Most recently, Bruce spearheaded the successful expansion of the duopoly’s news and entertainment programming by four additional hours. In addition, Bruce is instrumental in driving KDFW’s digital and streaming strategy.

“This is a well-earned promotion for someone who has been a key part of our success for nearly 30 years,” said Jeff Gurley, senior vice president and general manager of KDFW Fox 4 and KDFI MORE27. “Bruce’s leadership, vision, and deep understanding of our community make him the perfect choice to lead our newsroom into the future.”

A North Texas native, Bruce is a graduate of Texas A&M University. Before joining KDFW, he worked as a producer at KTBC in Austin and KING in Seattle.
