Butter is seeking a highly motivated and talented summer design intern to join our design studio. Our intern will learn the ins and outs of working with a small brand design firm and be actively involved in all aspects of our creative process.
Role Details
Butter is seeking a highly motivated and talented summer design intern to join the studio. Our intern will learn the ins and outs of working with a small brand design firm and be actively involved in all aspects of our creative process. This is an opportunity to learn what its like to work for a small studio, hone your craft, and develop your design skills while working on real life applications. We’re looking for students whose design aesthetic resonates with ours, who have excellent typography, graphic design, animation, and illustration skills.
Because of the Coronavirus, the internship may be remote. We are considering remote candidates. Otherwise it would take place in our studio in NYC.
Creative responsibilities:
Produce final design solutions (like logos, banners, interfaces)
Pitch creative ideas to internal creative team
Collaborate with team members on design work
Take on production design tasks (e.g. color correction)
Design brand systems and assets for clients
Design print or development ready design assets to spec
Design collateral for Butter marketing: newsletter, social media etc.
Create static design assets using Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, Sketch or Figma
Create animations and motion graphics
Day-to-day operating responsibilities:
Understand project requirements and concepts
Follow through with assignments on time and thoughtfully
Arrive on time, fulfill expected tasks and time commitment
Skill/Attributes Required
Requirements:
Expert in Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
Fluent in AfterEffects, motion design, animation
Experience using Figma or Sketch a plus
Great at accepting and implementing feedback
Proactive self starter, brings ideas to the table
Exceptional organizational and project management skills
Excellent problem solver
Extremely detail oriented and adept at multitasking
Self starter that sticks to deadlines, arrives on time, follows through with commitments
Great at time management
Adept at learning new technologies and platforms
Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
Passion for sport, empowerment of underrepresented groups is a plus
Passion for female led and LGBTQ organizations is a plus
Passion for brand identity design and application
Passion for recreational sports or competitive athletics a plus
Familiarity with design techniques (e.g. wireframing, moodboarding)
Understanding of visual elements (layout, type, and color)
Team player
Conceptual thinker
Portfolio website and written letter explaining why you are the best fit
