Meta is returning to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2022 with an ad featuring a pair of star-studded Chris’s.
Actors Chris Pratt and Chris Hemsworth will promote Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, wearable, AI-powered tech that enables wearers to capture photos and videos, listen to music, make calls and texts using voice commands, and more.
Meta didn’t disclose which agency is behind the upcoming spot, or when it will air during the game.
In 2022, Meta worked with Anomaly LA on a 60-second spot, “Old Friends, New Fun,” to promote its push into the metaverse. The commercial highlighted its Meta Quest 2 immersive headset by recreating an old hangout called Questy’s, where friends used together, in virtual reality.
The ad, which aired shortly after Meta rebranded from Facebook and amid an aggressive push into virtual reality, aimed to showcase that the most important social interactions occur when hanging out with the people you love, whether that’s in physical or virtual spaces.
Meta’s upcoming Super Bowl ad is not the first time the company has enlisted stars to promote its tech. In October, Meta and Ray-Ban worked with Translation to create a spot featuring musicians Anderson .Paak, Tinashe, and James Blake to spotlight the glasses’ hands-free capabilities.
At its annual Connect conference this past September, Meta chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg announced new AI integrations for the glasses, like live language translation, memory, and voice message recording. Meta recently extended its partnership with Ray-Ban’s owner, EssilorLuxottica, into the next decade.
Meta’s only other Super Bowl ad aired in 2020.
