Community Notes needs a boost
The push comes as participation in Community Notes has declined. Submissions to Community Notes have dropped more than 50% since January, with some notes disappearing due to technical issues, according to an NBC report published last month.
X leadership told ADWEEK some of the engagement dip comes from natural falloff after the U.S. General Election, and the “seasonality of controversial topics.”
Users are 60% less likely to reshare a post with a Community Note, and posts with Community Notes are 80% more likely to be deleted by the original poster, according to X’s own research.
In a recent 12-day period, notes appeared on over 50,000 posts, and were seen over 250 million times.
The update follows last month’s launch of a feature that labels posts liked by users with differing perspectives—an effort by X to highlight common ground on the oft-divisive platform.
