March 9, 2022

Welcome to our March edition of Featured Fonts. Before we get to our three picks, we’d love to tell you that the schedule for Font Fashion Week is up. FFW is a series of free online events organized by I Love Typography to celebrate the latest trends in international type design. Tickets (free tickets!) will be available mid-this-month. Visit our mini-site for more details.

Human-centered Branding

If typography is the voice of a brand, what sort of typeface would fit a human-centered one? That’s the question addressed in Typefaces for Human-Centered Branding. Visit the blog to discover Nadine’s eight typefaces ideal for branding with that human touch.

Celebrating Women-led Foundries

Next up on the blog, and in celebration of International Women’s day, we’re thrilled to launch the ILT Mentorship program for women-led or co-led foundries. It will focus on providing regular advice on business development and marketing strategy, and it will help demystify the font business to newcomers. To learn more, head to the ILT blog.

Featured Fonts

This month we celebrate three talented women type designers: Kimmy Kirkwood, Miriam Surányi, and Laura Worthington.

HAWKES
Kimmy’s Hawkes family is an expansive sans + script family. The letters have that handwritten or weathered look about them, and work well in branding, especially those associated with the handmade or artisanal, or with a connection to nature and the environment. Recommend: The complete Hawkes family of 14 fonts for just $75.

MARGIT
From the terrifically talented Miriam Surányi at Schriftlabor, Margit is a beautifully expressive Sans family in 18 styles from the super-crisp thin to the no-nonsense knockout Heavy weight. Beautifully drawn true italics and some gorgeous details in letters like t and R – and that ampersand! Also available as a variable font.

BELOVED SCRIPT
Laura Worthington needs no introduction. My LW pick today has to be Beloved Script, a fluid and graceful monoline script with plenty of flourishes and ornaments, should you need them. Recommended: if you want just a single font, then go for Beloved Script Regular ($29); otherwise, the entire family of three fonts— regular, bold, and ornaments — is a great deal at just $89.

ILT Collectibles

And don’t forget! If you spend more than $150 in the ILT store, we’ll send you our beautiful March Collectible poster featuring the over-printed Spektra typeface absolutely free. We’ll even pay for shipping — to anywhere in the world.

Fonts on Sale
Right now, and for a limited time, all Shinntype fonts are 50% off, including the splendid Nicholas (complete family: $99 $49.50), Steven Heller’s pick for his Font of the Month. I’m also a big fan of Scotch Modern (whole family of 9 fonts just $299 $149.50).

The fabulous and funky Seventies by Sproviero-Type is an absolute steal at $10.80! Zetafonts’ Asgard Roman, the whole family of 24 fonts, is now $166 $99.60.
