A Strategic Investment in Contemporary Art

With an investment exceeding €100,000, Fondazione Fiera Milano strengthens its long-standing commitment to contemporary art through the acquisition of ten new works during miart 2026.

The initiative not only expands the foundation’s collection—housed in the historic Palazzina degli Orafi—but also reinforces Milan’s role as a key node in the international art ecosystem. The newly acquired works span a wide range of media, languages, and artistic approaches, reflecting the diversity and vitality of today’s global art scene.

The New Acquisitions

The selection includes works by both Italian and international artists, offering a layered perspective on contemporary artistic research:

  • A large-scale canvas by Sergio Fermariello
  • A work by Vivian Suter
  • Turn and Slip, an acrylic piece by Claudia Comte
  • An acrylic painting by Tobias Just
  • A work by Nika Kutateladze
  • The photograph (un)Kraut by Sung Tieu
  • The sculpture Le Gemelle by Giosetta Fioroni
  • 6 Allée des Rosiers, a wooden composition in olive and cedar by Concorde
  • Corpus 04 (Nina) by Theresa Buchner
  • An untitled watercolor by Marco Scarpi

Together, these works form a constellation of practices that move across abstraction and figuration, material experimentation, and conceptual inquiry.

Art as a Cultural Infrastructure

“For us, investing in culture means investing in one of the defining pillars of Made in Italy,” said Giovanni Bozzetti, President of Fondazione Fiera Milano. “It is not only about production, but also about language, vision, and shared knowledge.”

His statement reflects a broader strategy: positioning art as an essential driver of cultural and economic growth. Through initiatives like the Tavolo della Cultura, the foundation aims to foster dialogue between institutions, artists, galleries, and the public—building a more connected and resilient cultural ecosystem.

Events such as miart play a crucial role in this vision. More than an art fair, miart becomes a platform where different actors converge, contributing to Milan’s status as a global reference point for contemporary art.

A Curated Selection

The acquisitions were made with the support of an international jury composed of:

  • Eva Birkenstock, Director of Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf
  • Giovanni Morale, Deputy Director and Head of Education at Gallerie d’Italia, Milan
  • Arturo Galansino, Director General of Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, Florence

Their combined perspectives ensured a selection that is both rigorous and open, capable of capturing the complexity of contemporary artistic practices.

A Growing Collection

Fondazione Fiera Milano’s collection now includes around 150 works by more than 120 artists, representing a significant cultural asset.

With a total acquisition cost of approximately €1.5 million, the collection has reached an estimated value of €3 million over time—an indication not only of its financial growth but also of its cultural relevance.

What makes the collection particularly compelling is its internal coherence. Despite its diversity, recurring themes emerge: the relationship between nature and culture, the tension between abstraction and representation, and the dialogue between body, space, and architecture. These threads create a narrative that mirrors some of the most pressing questions in contemporary art today.
