Gieco has named Arianna Orpello as chief marketing officer (CMO), starting January 2026.
Orpello joins the insurance giant from Goldman Sachs, where she most recently served as global chief brand officer. Before that, she held senior leadership roles at TD Bank, Capital One, and ING Direct.
Her arrival follows the departure of former CMO Damon Burrell, who stepped down in January after nearly three years.
Creative review on ice
Following Burrell’s departure, Geico launched a creative agency review to expand its agency roster. However, this has been on ice since March amid the search for a new CMO.
The insurer has worked with The Martin Agency since 1994. The Richmond, VA shop is responsible for some of the brand’s biggest campaigns, including the introduction of the Geico Gecko in 1999 and its long-running “15 minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance” tagline.
Orpello will report to Gieco’s chairman, president, and chief executive (CEO) Todd Combs.
He said: “Her extensive leadership experience in the financial services sector will be instrumental to our continued success, and her proven expertise will help elevate our world-class marketing capabilities to a new level.”
In August, Geico posted a $1.8 billion underwriting profit for Q2 2025, marking a slight year-on-year increase.
