We’ll be off the rest of the week, so until then, enjoy your time whether you have to work the holiday or not.

I’m not sure if stations still feed their employees, but my holiday memories always include late KNTV anchor Doug Moore carving up the turkey like the station dad for all of us staffers who had to work on turkey day.

We didn’t have to say what we were thankful for then, but if we had to do it now, I’d say I’m grateful for you our readers!

I’ll be back next week.

Until then, here are a few stories to tide you over:

  • Trump’s second term could further destabilize a wobbly era for press freedom. Here’s more from Poynter.
  • Gilbert Baez, a fixture on WRAL-TV for 17 years, will leave the station in January. Baez worked for WRAL as their Fayetteville reporter from 1989 to 1996, then for 17 years at ABC11 WTVD before coming back to WRAL in 2014. He has also covered the weather for both stations. Here’s more.
  • Meteorologist Steve Glazier has joined NBC Connecticut in Hartford. Here’s his social media post.
  • Mark Neerman has been named news director at ABC affiliate KOMO/KUNS in Seattle. Phil Bruce will be retiring at the end of the year. This will be a return to Sinclair for Neerman. He was news director at its Las Vegas stations from 2014 until 2018.
