After receiving both critical acclaim and strong public response during Milan Fashion Week, Italia di Moda arrives in Rome, taking over the spaces of the MAXXI – Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo from May 14 to June 7, 2026. The exhibition confirms itself as one of the most distinctive and identity-driven visual projects in today’s Italian cultural landscape.

Conceived by photographer Andrea Varani and exclusively interpreted by model Ludmilla Voronkina Bozzetti, the project unfolds as a year-long journey across Italy. It’s not just a fashion story—it’s a layered visual narrative where clothing becomes a medium to explore territory, culture, and identity.

Fashion as Landscape, Landscape as Identity

The exhibition features 48 photographs that construct a contemporary visual language where fashion is no longer isolated from its surroundings. Instead, garments seamlessly merge with landscapes—whether natural, urban, or historical—creating a dialogue between body, space, and cultural memory.

Designs from iconic Italian houses such as Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, and Etro are not presented as standalone aesthetic objects. Instead, they become part of the visual ecosystem—absorbing and reflecting the essence of each location.

From the Dolomites to Southern Italy, the project maps a new emotional geography of the country, where craftsmanship, environment, and cultural heritage coexist in a fluid and contemporary way.

A Single Presence, A Continuous Narrative

At the center of Italia di Moda is Ludmilla Voronkina Bozzetti, the sole protagonist across all images. Her presence acts as a narrative thread—both intimate and symbolic—guiding the viewer through a personal and visual exploration of Italy.

Her connection to the country adds depth to the work. Italy becomes more than a backdrop; it emerges as a lived space, a source of inspiration, and a creative horizon. This continuity strengthens the emotional coherence of the project, turning each photograph into a fragment of a larger story.

Andrea Varani’s Essential Approach

Andrea Varani’s photographic language is defined by restraint and clarity. Known for his essential and elegant style, he avoids over-construction, allowing authenticity to take precedence over spectacle.

His approach to Italia di Moda reflects a deliberate slowing down. In contrast to the fast-paced and often highly controlled nature of contemporary fashion imagery, Varani embraces unpredictability—seeking balance rather than perfection.

This results in images that feel immediate and organic, where the relationship between subject, garment, and environment unfolds naturally in front of the lens.

Rome and the Dialogue with Space

The Roman chapter of the project holds particular significance. As Voronkina Bozzetti notes, Rome amplifies the meaning of the images, embedding them within a deeper cultural dimension. The city’s layered history, its light, and its architectural complexity inevitably shape the visual language of the work.

Exhibiting at MAXXI adds another layer to this dialogue. The museum does not simply host the images—it interprets them. Its contemporary architecture creates a dynamic interaction between space and photography, inviting viewers not only to observe but to engage and reflect.

A Contemporary Vision of Italian Fashion

Produced with the patronage of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and Pitti Immagine, and supported by Intesa Sanpaolo, Italia di Moda positions itself as a project that redefines how Italian fashion can be represented today.

Rather than celebrating fashion as spectacle, it frames it as culture—an evolving system rooted in people, places, and narratives.
