Chris Henao, the assistant news director for Houston station KHOU, has announced he was laid off from the Tegna owned station. He’s worked there since 2019.

“Last Tuesday, I was laidoff from KHOU 11. Now what?” Henao posted to LinkedIn. “Well, I’m choosing to see this as a blessing in disguise – an opportunity to embrace new challenges, step outside my comfort zone, and continue growing! Leaving behind an amazing newsroom full of talented journalists and friends is bittersweet, for sure.”

He expressed doubts about his future in local TV, saying “Will the next chapter be as a journalist? I’m not 100 percent sure right now.”

“If this marks the end of my 34 years in news, I will forever treasure every moment – so many stories, memories, friendships and accomplishments!” he wrote.

According to his LinkedIn page, Wiley Post is now the Assistant ND.
