Messenger said the apps will be upgraded with a host of new features specifically for desktop, including augmented reality effects, filters and immersive 360-degree backgrounds.

New holiday sticker packs will be introduced, as well.

Users who want to access any of the holiday filters and effects can open the Messenger desktop all and either start a video call, create a Room or open the app’s camera. Clicking the smiley face icon will bring up the filters and backgrounds tabs.

Holiday-themed AR effects that began rolling out Wednesday include: Christmas Elf, Christmas Tree Hat, Festive Lights, Golden New Year, Grumpy Yeti, Santa’s Lap, Snow Day and Winter Village

And the new holiday sticker packs include “Bye 2020″ New Year’s Eve, Christmas and Hanukkah With Dreidel.
