The travels of Josef Albers to Mexico deepened his interest in photography and inspired his abstract paintings, combining many of the travel images to produce photocollages with grid-like compositions. The vibrant colors of the natural landscape informed the palette of his paintings, experimenting with form, composition and color theory.
