With the news, Paramount joins several other major companies, including Amazon, Disney, Meta, and McDonald’s, in rolling back DEI initiatives amid the Trump administration’s policies.
Among the examples, The Hollywood Reporter noted this month that Disney has eliminated references to its “Reimagine Tomorrow” initiative in a recent filing with regulators. The program, which launched in 2021, was focused on amplifying underrepresented voices, per THR.
In addition, Amazon notified employees in a Dec. 16 memo from vice president of inclusive experiences and technology Candi Castleberry, obtained by Bloomberg, that it was “winding down outdated programs and materials” and “focusing on programs with proven outcomes.”
Other companies, however, like Apple, Costco, Ben and Jerry’s, e.l.f. Beauty, and Delta, have continued their DEI initiatives.
