Live (maybe) from New York (maybe), it’s Saturday Night!

This weekend, Saturday Night Live will return with new content, which will air in its usual 11:30 p.m. timeslot on NBC.

The material will all be produced remotely, as the production practices social distancing, according to the network.

The episode will include a Weekend Update segment, as well as other original content featuring SNL cast members. It is unclear whether any segments will be actually performed live, or if all the content will be pretaped.

This will be the first new SNL material since the show’s March 7 episode, which was hosted by Daniel Craig and included multiple sketches about the novel coronavirus.

Less than a week after that episode aired, late-night productions began to shut down as the coronavirus continued to spread. SNL had been scheduled to return on March 28, but new episodes were postponed by mid-March.

However, almost all late-night shows have subsequently resumed production, with content produced entirely remotely.
