The week leading up to the Labor Day Weekend belonged to movies, with two Netflix entries occupying the top spots. KPop Demon Hunters led the way, going up, up, up to the No. 1 position.
For the week of August 25, KPop Demon Hunters recorded 1.115 billion viewing minutes. Since its release on June 20, the movie has accumulated 9.8 billion minutes viewed and has been the No. 1 streaming movie of the summer among the Kids 2-11, Teens 12-17, and Adults 18-34 demos.
According to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings, Netflix had six titles in the chart, with two of them having over a billion viewing minutes. It also occupied the top five positions and had one title with shared distribution rights.
The Thursday Murder Club was in second with 1.031 billion viewing minutes. The film was a fave with the Adults 50+ demo, who accounted for 68% of its total watch time.
Taking the No. 3 position for the week of August 25 was the second-season drop of My Life with the Walter Boys, which entered the chart, accumulating 987 million viewing minutes. This was followed by the docuseries Katrina: Come Hell and High Water, which finished with 911 million minutes viewed.
In fifth place was former No. 1 title Wednesday, which, after spending three weeks at the top, dropped down the chart with 870 million viewing minutes.
The lower half of the chart was led by Disney+’s Bluey at No. 6 with 859 million minutes viewed. It was followed by Paramount+’s SpongeBob SquarePants, dropping three positions to seventh place with 769 million viewing minutes.
In the No. 8 position was Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, moving up one spot with 717 million minutes viewed. The streaming premiere of Marvel’s Thunderbolts took ninth place, giving Disney+ 702 million viewing minutes.
Also earning 702 million minutes viewed, but landing in the No. 10 position, is the Netflix and Paramount+ shared title Extant. It dropped three places from its previous week’s position.
