After being the bridesmaid for two straight weeks, Peacock’s Love Island USA earned bride status in Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart during the week of July 7.
Love Island USA’s ascendance to the top was also a milestone marker for its streaming service, Peacock, as this was the first time it had ever occupied the No. 1 position in the chart.
According to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings, the final episode of the reality dating series boosted viewership to 1.932 billion viewing minutes for the week of July 7. During its six-week run, the series garnered 8.8 billion viewing minutes with 54% of its audience coming from the Adults 18-34 demo.
The just-concluded week saw an impressive seven titles with over a billion viewing minutes, with Netflix accounting for five titles and the other two belonging to Peacock and Amazon’s Prime Video. Only one title in this week’s chart had shared distribution rights.
Earning second place was the Season 2 debut of Sullivan’s Crossing on Netflix, which had 1.347 billion minutes viewed. Female audiences were the primary watchers of the series as they accounted for 72% of the total viewing audience.
After a two-week reign in first place, Netflix’s Squid Game fell to the No. 3 position with 1.254 billion viewing minutes.
It was followed by the Tyler Perry movie Madea’s Destination Wedding in fourth place and Blindspot in fifth, which both aired on Netflix with 1.195 billion and 1.080 billion minutes viewed, respectively.
The bottom half of the chart included the Netflix-acquired Animal Kingdom at No. 6 with 1.044 billion minutes viewed, followed by Prime Video’s Ballard, which had 1.025 billion viewing minutes.
In eighth place was Disney+’s Bluey, which had 904 million viewing minutes, with Netflix’s Kpop Demon Hunters taking the No. 9 position with 817 million minutes viewed.
The final spot in the chart belonged to the Hulu/Paramount+ shared title, Criminal Minds, which had 690 million viewing minutes.
