The season three premiere of the Netflix dramedy Ginny & Georgia moved its way to the top of Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart for the week of June 2.
The series, which explores a complex mother-daughter relationship and stars Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry, garnered 2.88 billion viewing minutes.
According to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings, Ginny & Georgia had the fourth-best week for a streaming title so far this year. It was also the youngest-skewing original series in the chart during the first week of June, with 45% of its audience under the age of 35, and 19% of that coming from Black audiences.
A total of four titles had more than a billion viewing minutes, with Netflix accounting for three of those titles. The streamer also had the most titles in the chart, with five, one of which had shared distribution rights.
The non-Netflix title with over a billion viewing minutes was Prime Video’s The Accountant 2, which landed in the No. 2 spot. The sequel to the 2016 film, starring Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal, amassed 1.384 billion minutes viewed and mainly resonated with the male demo, as they, ahem, accounted for 56% of the film’s total audience. Breaking it down even further, 34% of the male audience belonged to the Adults 35-64 demo.
Netflix occupied the remaining spots in the top half of the chart, with Animal Kingdom taking third place with 1.135 billion viewing minutes. Dept Q was No. 4 with 1.098 billion minutes viewed, and the Tyler Perry movie Straw took fifth, with 881 million viewing minutes.
Disney+’s Bluey is the first title from the previous week to appear in the chart as it took the No.6 position, down two spots, with 847 million minutes viewed. It was followed by the second Prime Video title to appear in the chart, The Better Sister, with 776 million viewing minutes, up three places from its previous week’s position.
In eighth place was Peacock’s Love Island USA with 772 million viewing minutes. Taking the No. 9 spot, down two places, was the Hulu and Netflix shared Grey’s Anatomy with 760 million viewed minutes.
The final position belonged to Paramount+’s SpongeBob SquarePants, finishing with 751 million viewing minutes, down four spots from its showing the week prior.
