The entertainment news startup The Ankler has partnered with NAB Show to introduce a new series of programming, called its Business of Entertainment track, to the multi-day event.

The convention, hosted by the National Association of Broadcasters, will be held April 5 through April 9 in the Las Vegas Convention Center. It serves as an annual showcase for new products and technologies across the broadcasting, content creation, and media industries.

According to Ankler chief executive Janice Min, the Business of Entertainment initiative will take place over two days, April 7 and 8, and feature 10 sessions related to the evolving nature of the modern entertainment business.

“The Ankler has always been audience first, a resource for the smartest people working in entertainment,” said Min. “We always want to evangelize our work, and NAB is one of the best stages to do this.”

The track will include programming such as Werk Ethic: Beyond Drag Race; Reality Check: The New Rules of Unscripted TV; and Navigating Tomorrow’s Hollywood: Uncertainty, Opportunity & Answers.

It will also include a special appearance by WWE president Nick Khan and chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, following the debut of WWE on Netflix in January. The streaming platform agreed in January 2024 to pay $5 billion for the right to exclusively air the WWE program Monday Night Raw for the next decade.

The deal marked the first major foray from Netflix into the world of live sports programming. And with its paid subscriber base of more than 300 million users, Netflix is poised to offer WWE far greater exposure than its previous home on USA Network, positioning both the league—and combat sports more broadly—for massive growth.

The Ankler grows its footprint

With the partnership, The Ankler takes another step in further expanding its presence in the events and live-journalism space.

In January, the publisher announced a partnership with Letterboxd for a new screening series ahead of the Academy Awards, which in the past has featured screenings of Conclave and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl. It also participates in a variety of other film festivals and industry events throughout the year.
