About Webjet

Webjet is Australia’s leading online travel agency – a stunningly successful ASX200 listed firm, has grown over 15 times since 2005. We help people find and book a wide collection of travel products including flights, hotels, packages, car & motorhome hire, cruises, and insurance.
We believe booking travel online should be easy. Our aim is to match our customer’s travel goals with the right travel products as efficiently as possible and support them throughout their entire travel experience. We have over 200 passionate and skilled people committed to this purpose.

How you will make an impact

We’re looking for a talented Junior UX Designer with strong visual design skills & an appetite to learn UX process knowledge. You are passionate about creating polished, usable solutions to that delight users. You would work alongside several agile project teams, collaborating with BAs, developers, product owners, UX colleagues, and other team members to create solutions that accomplish user, technical and business goals while maintaining consistent visual standards.
As a key member of the Webjet team, you will be directly impacting our user’s experience. You will be required to validate your designs at critical stages via our user research panel or with senior members of the UX team.

Key responsibilities
• Conceptualise and create brand-consistent, easy-to-use, accessible designs for a variety of products and services.
• Build interactive prototypes to test key interactions via our user research panel.
• Work with our analytics team to inform design decisions using data.
• Leverage and evolve the Webjet UI pattern library based on observed user interaction.
• Guide our in-house developers with the implementation of designs.
• Advocate user-centred design practices throughout the broader organisation.

Working with the team
We work in an agile environment with multiple projects running concurrently. You will be relied upon to offer pragmatic design solutions that can be delivered in a staged manner. Our teams are encouraged to challenge the status quo and raise new ideas. You must not be precious about your design solutions and will seek feedback from multiple sources to take your designs to the next level. We are a data-driven company, which means research-derived insights will always trump self-referential design influence. We seek to validate key design decisions using quantitative and qualitative research.

Webjet culture
We are passionate about creating services that meet our customer’s expectations of efficiency, speed, communication, convenience, and confidence and have found that collaboration with our users, cross-functional team members, and third parties is the key to accomplishing this.
Your future co-workers love driving innovation in the online travel world. We run regular Hack Day events that showcase the breadth of ideas and skills our team has. It’s a great opportunity to get to know your company’s members better, work as a cross-functional team, and bring your vision into reality.
The Webjet office is located on St Kilda Road, a short tram ride from the CBD, or a short walk from Prahran/South Yarra train stations. Or join dozens of other Webjet team members who choose to ride their bike into the office. There are plenty of cafes, gyms, and the extensive Faulkner park nearby.

Benefits of working at Webjet
• Opportunity to attend design conferences
• Fully paid international travel insurance
• Discounts on travel
• Discounted Myki yearly pass
• Casual attire, year-round social events
• Games/breakout room
• Outdoor fitness club
• Unlimited coffee!

Skill/Attributes Required

• A portfolio that clearly communicates your interaction & visual design contribution to mobile and desktop UI applications for consumer-facing products.
• Knowledge of usability principles as they apply to user interface design to make products useful and not just atheistically pleasing.
• Have superb visual design skills – a relevant qualification in a design-related field desirable but not essential.
• Have a passion for interaction and visual design and actively seeking to grow your UX skills, process, and knowledge.
• A demonstrated process with designing responsive (multi-device) designs using a mobile-first approach.
• Proficiency with visual design software.
• Would like to actively participate in Melbourne’s design community.
• Experience working in lean and agile environments would be a bonus.
