Week of Dec. 9 Cable News Ratings: Audiences Check out of News Ahead of the Holidays

  • During primetime, Fox News was up by +43% in total viewers and +61% in the demo. During total day, the network saw gains of +42% in total viewers and +62% in the demo.
  • MSNBC was down by -47% in total viewers and -50% in the demo. During total day, the network was down -41% in total viewers and -46% in the demo.
  • CNN fell by -21% in total viewers and -34% in the demo during primetime. Across total day, CNN was down by -22% in total viewers and -32% in the demo.

PROGRAMMING:

Fox News took all 15 spots of the most-watched cable news shows of the week, with The Five (4.019 million viewers at 5 p.m. ET) remaining on top.

The Five (400,000 viewers at 5 p.m. ET) was also the top show in the A25-54 demo, with FNC once again occupying all 15 spots.
