Fox Television Stations (FTS) has announced leadership promotions across multiple markets.

Paul McGonagle, currently vice president and news director of WTTG Fox 5 Washington, D.C., has been named senior vice president and general manager of WJBK Fox 2 Detroit. He takes over for gm Greg Easterly, who is retiring.

In addition, Amber Eikel has been promoted to senior vice president and regional general manager, adding oversight of KTTV Fox 11 and KCOP Fox 11+ in Los Angeles to her current responsibilities as svp and gm of KCPQ Fox 13 and KZJO Fox 13+ in Seattle.

Both Eikel and McGonagle will report to Jack Abernethy, Chief Executive Officer of FTS.

“Greg Easterly has been a trusted and inspiring leader across the nation’s top local markets and station groups. We thank him for his exceptional service and congratulate him on a remarkable career,” said Abernethy. “In Paul and Amber, we have two of the strongest newsroom and operational minds in local television. Both have continuous track records of innovation and team-building, and I’m confident they’ll continue to raise the bar in Detroit, Los Angeles, and Seattle.”

Eikel most recently served as svp and gm of Fox’s Seattle duopoly (KCPQ/KZJO). Before that, Eikel was vp and news director at KTVU Fox 2 in Oakland. Eikel has also worked as executive producer at KIRO (Seattle) and at KTNV (Las Vegas). She began her career as a producer, executive producer, and interim news director for KMIR in Palm Springs, California.

“I’m honored to step into this expanded role and excited to build on the strong foundations in both markets. FOX 11 and FOX 13 are vital voices in their communities, and I look forward to working with the talented teams in Los Angeles and Seattle to deepen our connection with local audiences and expand our impact across platforms,” said Eikel.

For the last 12 years, McGonagle has served as the vp & news director of WTTG Fox 5 Washington D.C. Before joining Fox 5, he served in multiple roles at WFXT Fox 25 in Boston, including vice president/news director. His earlier career included reporting and producing roles at WJAR (Providence), KGAN (Cedar Rapids), and WNNE (Vermont).

“It’s a privilege to step into this role at Fox 2,” McGonagle added. “I’m excited to lead a station with such a strong journalistic tradition and look forward to working closely with the team to serve the community at the highest level.”

McGonagle will fill the role of departing svp and gm of WJBK Fox 2 Detroit, Greg Easterly, who is retiring. Easterly previously served as svp of Group Operations for Tribune Media, overseeing 15 markets. Before that, he was GM of WPIX (New York), WGN (Chicago) and WJW (Cleveland), where he had also held the vp of news position.

“Working with Jack and the teams at FOX has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life,” Easterly said. “I’m especially proud of what we’ve accomplished together in Detroit. As I step away to spend more time with my family, I do so knowing these stations are in very talented hands.”
