
WNDU senior reporter Mark Peterson will retire after 40 years at the South Bend, Indiana NBC affiliate.
His last day will be Tuesday, June 24. He joined the station in 1985.
“It’s been an honor and a privilege for us here at WNDU to have worked with Mark,” the station wrote on its website. “He is one of a kind, both as a person and as a journalist.”

“On June 24, 1985, Mark began his tenure at WNDU, embarking on a journey that would see him become one of the most respected reporters in our region,” Yakym said in part. “Throughout his 40-year career at WNDU, Mark has been lauded for his ability to quickly grasp complex issues and report them with great clarity and composure. His commitment to factual reporting and his calm demeanor under pressure have made him a trusted voice in our community. As someone who grew up in South Bend. I have vivid memories of watching Mark deliver the news with professionalism and poise, his reporting was not just informative. It was a fixture in our home.”
