After Ben Affleck achieved his dreams of pop stardom by forming the boy band the DunKings, Dunkin’ is making more music by releasing its first EP exclusively on Spotify today.
*NSYNC’s Joey Fatone and the Backstreet Boys’ A.J. McLean have united as the Iced Boys for their first duet, “Iced Like My Coffee.” Referencing the DunKings single “Don’t Dunk Away at My Heart,” they sing “Don’t dunk away my heart again” in a nostalgic ‘90s-style jam accompanied by Zev Prince. A visualizer for the track will drop later this month.
The rest of the EP’s four tracks are shorter. Peyton Mackenzie and August Roads sing about how Dunkin’ Refreshers can quench their thirst on a hot day in “Refresher Season” and “Sparkd’ Up” touting Sparkd’ Energy as a way to recharge with caffeine and nutrients.
McLean and Fatone teased their work last month as part of the Dunkin’Terns, a group working under actor-comedian Will Arnett and content creator Natalie Marshall (@corporatenatalie) to promote Dunkin’ iced energy as Affleck takes a summer break from his role as brand ambassador. The boy band veterans suggested making Dunkin’ iced coffee top of mind by producing a “deliciously nostalgic” banger about the drink.
More projects from the Dunkin’Terns will be released throughout the summer, including a special menu from MasterChef contestant Nick DiGiovanni featuring blueberry doughnut iced coffee, a back-to-school capsule collection from Ambush designer Yoon Ahn based on the colors of Dunkin’ Refreshers, and a custom gaming arena inspired by Sparkd’ produced with Twitch streamer SypherPK.
Like the EP, each of these collaborations was previewed last month in the form of 15-second briefing for Arnett and Marshall.
