Staying in Place: NewsNation’s primetime anchor Chris Cuomo has agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the network. Cuomo joined NewsNation in 2020, and his eponymous 8 p.m. show is the network’s top-rated program.
“Chris is a one-of-a-kind talent whose unrivaled analysis and commentary has helped grow the audience at NewsNation and strengthen our brand,” Sean Compton, president of Nexstar’s Networks Division, said in a statement.
For his part, Cuomo had a simple reason for why he chose to stick around. “Where else but NewsNation can you expose the game instead of being forced to play?” he remarked. “Let’s get after it.”

More changes are taking place at CNN as The Axe Files podcast completes its run after more than 600 episodes. “I step away for now because I need to make more time for the next chapter of my own story, for my great and blessedly growing family, for friends and new adventures,” David Axelrod said during the podcast’s final episode.
In a statement, CNN said the network was “grateful to David for his tireless work interviewing more than 600 key newsmaking figures over the course of some of the most consequential political years in recent history.” Despite the series’ conclusion, Axelrod remains a senior political commentator at CNN.
