The influential Argentinian artist Marta Minujín has been creating installations, video art and performances for over sixty years, influencing contemporary Latin American art. In her work, “Minujín combines elements of experimental theater, film and television, advertising, and sculpture to create total environments that place viewers at the center of social situations and confront them with the seductiveness of media images and celebrity culture.”
In this exhibition, the New Museum recreates the original installations. In the space, you will be led through a tunnel with neon lights, a bedroom with a couple, a salon with makeup artists, a masseuse and many more rooms. The idea behind each room is to have the viewer engage with the environment and reflect on modern life, consumerism and media.
