In a blog post today, Amazon said it stands in solidarity with the Black community in the fight against systemic racism and injustice. As a result, Amazon worked with its Black Employee Network (BEN) to identify groups focused on combating systemic racism as well as those dedicated to expanding educational and economic opportunity for Black communities.

“Amazon’s leadership and BEN have worked hand-in-hand to identify organizations in the Black community that make a difference and will contribute to them in a meaningful way,” said BEN president Angelina Howard in a statement.

Recipients of Amazon’s $10 million donation include:

• The American Civil Liberties Union
• The Brennan Center for Justice, a nonpartisan law and policy institute
• The Equal Justice Initiative, a nonprofit seeking to end mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the U.S.
• The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, which seeks to secure equal justice for all
• The NAACP
• The National Bar Association, a 95-year-old network of predominantly African American attorneys and judges
• The National Museum of African American History and Culture
• The National Urban League, a civil rights and urban advocacy organization
• The Thurgood Marshall College Fund
• The United Negro College Fund
• Year Up, a nonprofit that connects young adults with companies through an education and internship program

In addition, Amazon said BEN will receive a grant to fund local organizations that support education and racial equality initiatives in communities around the U.S. It did not specify the size of the grant.

In her statement, Howard said BEN will continue to have conversations about how Amazon can support employees and the Black community.

“We believe Black lives matter,” Amazon added in the post. “We stand in solidarity with our Black employees, customers and partners, and are committed to helping build a country and a world where everyone can live with dignity and free from fear.”
