We are looking for a children’s book illustrator who loves inclusive role models and all things spy. Shhh.
Role Details
We published Agent Asha – Mission Shark Bytes in June this year, illustrated by the wonderful and extremely talented Anjan Sarkar. Sadly for us, he’s booked up for the next few years on other (brilliant!) projects and so with his blessing, we’re looking for an illustrator to continue in Anjan’s path, and work with us on the next book. You should be able to closely follow the look and style established in Mission Shark Bytes, but adding some of your own creative flair.
We’ll be creating fun and engaging mechanisms to weave illustrations and activities into our main story, as well as working on the character development of Asha and her family.
There will be around 50 illustrations in total, drawn in black and white, with the main illustration work taking place from mid-February – April 2021.
👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽 THIS IS IMPORTANT: Our character – Agent Asha – is a third-generation British Indian girl who lives in Wembley, London. We believe in authentic character creation and we’re actively looking to work with an illustrator with lived experience of our character, Agent Asha, and her family.
THIS IS ALSO IMPORTANT: We value merit, initiative and values over qualifications or industry experience and we love diverse voices. If you’re not sure you are the ‘right’ candidate or have no formal experience, please apply anyway and help us to create something amazing.
