Global convenience store chain Circle K appointed GroupM’s MediaCom as its global media agency of record, tasked with serving as the company’s sole media agency partner across the U.S., Canada and Europe.

MediaCom will be responsible for media planning, developing global and regional media strategies, integrated media consulting and buying, consumer insight and measurement. The appointment follows an extensive review process lasting six months and including 18 agencies. It marks the first time that Circle K has consolidated its media planning and strategy with one agency globally.

“We’re very excited to be working for Circle K across its full footprint globally,” Fou Brown, MediaCom’s global account director for Circle K, said in a statement. “We have established a dedicated team that can fully focus on the needs of their business and look forward to playing our part in driving the business to greater success.”

Circle spent around $90 million on media globally last year, including around $58 million in the U.S., according to data consultancy COMvergence.

The appointment marks the second noteworthy account win for MediaCom in October, as Uber consolidated its global media account with MediaCom earlier this month. Back in May, Duracell appointed MediaCom as its global media agency of record. That month also saw Stephen Allan stepping down as MediaCom’s global CEO after 12 years, succeeded by global CCO Nick Lawson.
